King Charles III will address the nation later today following the death of his mother. The new monarch dashed to be by the Queen 's bedside yesterday (September 8) but was scheduled to return to London today alongside the Queen Consort.
Among his first duties will be a televised address to the nation. This will be a chance for the King to pay tribute to his mother.
He will also pledge his duty to his service as the new sovereign. The address is due to be pre-recorded, but will be broadcast in the early evening.

It is expected to air at 6pm tonight. BBC1 and ITV having cleared their schedules for special broadcasts throughout Friday, so the address is likely to be shown on both.
It is also expected to be shown on Sky News and other news channels.
The King already remembered the Queen in a statement to the nation yesterday. It read: "The death of my beloved mother, Her Majesty The Queen, is a moment of the greatest sadness for me and all members of my family.
"We mourn profoundly the passing of a cherished Sovereign and a much-loved mother. I know her loss will be deeply felt throughout the country, the Realms and the Commonwealth, and by countless people around the world.
"During this period of mourning and change, my family and I will be comforted and sustained by our knowledge of the respect and deep affection in which The Queen was so widely held."
The televised address is among a number of duties the King will undertake today, less than 24 hours since the death of his mother. He will hold his first audience as monarch this afternoon when he meets Prime Minister Liz Truss.
He is also expected to meet with the Earl Marshal - the Duke of Norfolk - who is in charge of funeral arrangements and the accession.
