What time is Joe Biden inauguration ceremony UK time and how do I watch a live stream?

Inauguration Day is here as Joe Biden is to be sworn in as the 46th US President.

While a monumental moment in US history, the ceremony will look a lot different this year amid the pandemic and after the riots earlier this month.

It's taking place at the Capitol Building in Washinton D.C, but instead of a parade down Pennsylvania Avenue, there will be a memorial at Arlington National Cemetery.

And instead of thousands of people congregating on the Capitol grounds and on the National Mall, there will be scores of National Guard members.

Biden will make his inaugural address after Kamala Harris is also sworn in as vice-president.

President Donald Trump has opted not to attend the inauguration, becoming the first president to do so since Andrew Johnson in 1869.

What time is it taking place?

The ceremony from Washington D.C's Capitol Building begins at 11.30am, which is 4.30pm in the UK.

President Joe Biden will be sworn in at midday, 5pm in the UK, along with vice-president Kamala Harris just before.

Inaugurations have always taken place on January 20th since 1937, in line with the Constitution’s 20th Amendment.

Proceedings will also be aired on Sky News and other news channels such as Fox News and CNN.
