What time are Great North Run highlights on TV? Millions tune in as famous race returns

You'll need to have your remote to hand if you're planning on watching the Great North Run action this year as it will be split across two different channels.

After the world's most famous half marathon was cancelled last year due to coronavirus made a triumphant return on Sunday, September 12, when tens of thousands of runners will take to the start line in Newcastle.

They took a new GNR route which will see them loop back on themselves on the Gateshead flyover close to the usual halfway point near Whitemare Pool, before returning to the finish at the Town Moor, rather than on South Shields seafront.

This means that those taking part in the Great North Run got to cross the iconic Tyne Bridge twice, which is also a very familiar sight for those who watch the race on the TV every year.

What time is the Great North Run on TV?

BBC coverage of this year's Great North Run will goy going at 9am on BBC2, rather than BBC1.

However, at 10am live action switched over to BBC1 , where it will then run through until 1.45pm when Songs of Praise will start.

Highlights of this year's race, which many people who've ran it will no doubt want to watch, starts at 5pm on BBC2 and are on until 6pm.

There is also sure to be plenty of coverage of this year's Great North Run, including stories on those running for charities close to their hearts, on local news on both BBC and ITV.

Among the runners expected to be there was Mo Farah who is hoping to win the race once again, but pulled out due to illness.
