What time is Children in Need on? BBC show to be shorter than normal

It wouldn't be November without it and Children in Need is back on Friday night.

Since 1980, when the live appeal show as we know it launched for the first time, millions of us have been tuning into the annual fundraiser, helping to raise millions for children's charities.

In fact, two years ago Children in Need passed the £1billion mark and will be hoping to raise plenty more money for extremely worthwhile causes this year.

Friday night's Appeal Show will see Mel Giedroyc make a return to hosting duties alongside Alex Scott MBE, Chris Ramsey and Stephen Mangan who will all be hosting BBC Children in Need for the first time.

Unlike in years gone by when Children in Need's live show has kept us up as late as 2am with seven hours of entertainment, this year's broadcast will be much shorter, airing on BBC1 from 7 - 10pm.

The show will feature Strictly Come Dancing, EastEnders and Doctor Who-related specials as well as musical performances from the likes of Beverley Knight and Shawn Mendes.

There will also be a huge surprise from The Repair Shop and Matt Baker, Ade Adepitan and a team of six young riders will make their way to the finishing line after completing the Rickshaw Challenge.
