What time is Champions League draw? Details for European draws as Shamrock Rovers return to top tier

Shamrock Rovers will be in the pot for the first round draw of next season's Champions League.

The League of Ireland champions will face one of 16 European sides for a place in the second round of qualifying.

A win in the Champions League fixture would ensure Rovers will play at least three more European games.

Firstly, they would have a second round qualifying game in the Champions League.

If Stephen Bradley's side lost that, they would enter the third round of the Europa League - winning that game would guarantee a place in the group stage of the newly formed Europa Conference League.

But if Rovers lost that Europa League third round game, they would have to contest a play-off to get into the Europa Conference League group stages.

It can sound fairly complicated, but as of now, Rovers could potentially end up in the Champions League, Europa League or Europa Conference League - or even miss out on European football altogether.

However, the club is guaranteed a payday of €810,000 for representing Ireland in the Champions League qualifying rounds.

If they win that first round game, that figure will rise to €1.41m. And if they won a second round Champions League fixture, they would secure €2.9m.

Potential opponents

The League of Ireland champions will face one of Malmo of Sweden, Polish giants Legia Warsaw, Slovakia’s Slovan Bratislava or Lincoln Red Imps of Gibraltar.

Stephen Bradley’s Hoops are among the unseeded teams in the draw but have dodged other sides like Dinamo Zagreb and Ludogorets.

Lincoln Red Imps would be the most favourable of the four options available.

When is the draw?

The Champions League draw will take place at 11am on Tuesday, June 15.

What about the other Irish sides?

Dundalk, Bohemians and Sligo Rovers will be in the draw for the Europa Conference League.

Irish sides can no longer qualify for the Europa League due to Ireland's ranking in UEFA's club competition - except of course for Shamrock Rovers, who can drop into the competition from their Champions League path.

The draw for the Europa Conference League will be at noon on Tuesday.
