What time is Boris Johnson's coronavirus press conference today?

Boris Johnson is to hold another coronavirus press conference later today.

The Prime Minister is expected to update the nation on the latest with the vaccine rollout.

Mr Johnson will be speaking from Downing Street at 5pm and will be joined by NHS England chief executive, Sir Simon Stevens.

According to The Sun, Mr Johnson will confirm a new Army-led distribution plan for vaccines, drawn up by battlefield planners.

It comes just a few days after the PM assured that almost 14million of Britain's most vulnerable people will be vaccinated by February 15.

So far, latest figures from NHS England show that more than a million people have received their first vaccine doses.

From today, the NHS said people will be able to receive the jab from GP surgeries, while care home residents will also begin receiving their first Oxford/AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccinations this week.

According to data published on Thursday, nearly 20,000 second doses of Covid-19 vaccines were administered between December 29 and January 3.

Some 19,981 second Pfizer jabs were given as of Sunday, which was before the rollout of the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine. All vaccinations given before December 29 were of first doses.

Overall, 308,541 people received a jab in the week ending Sunday January 3, taking the total number vaccinated in England since the rollout began to 1,112,866.

Of those, 661,224 (60 per cent) were given to people aged 80 or over, the health service said.
