What time is Boris Johnson's coronavirus lockdown rules announcement today?

Boris Johnson is set to an introduce a set of new measures and lockdown rules in a bid to curb the rapid spread of coronavirus.

The Prime Minister will announce the measures in the House of Commons before an address to the nation this evening.

He is expected say that pubs, bars and restaurants in England will be ordered to close by 10pm each night from Thursday and will also restrict the hospitality sector to table service only.

According to reports, Mr Johnson will emphasise the need for people to follow social-distancing guidance, wear face coverings and wash their hands regularly.

The government is also reported to be changing its message on encouraging people to go 'back to work' in offices, instead urging people to work from home where it does not hurt businesses.

Cabinet Office minister Micheal Gove also said the 10pm closing time is not the only measure that will be announced later saying "it's part of a package of measures."

The Prime Minister will then address the nation at 8pm on Tuesday (September 22).

Before his TV address tonight, the Prime Minister is likely to first announce the new measures in the House of Commons around 12.30pm following a Cabinet meeting on Tuesday morning, as well as a Cobra committee meeting with ministers and First Ministers from the devolved nations to discuss the surge in cases.
