What time is Boris Johnson's briefing and speech today?

Boris Johnson is set to hold a press conference today ahead of the major easing of the lockdown measures.

From Saturday, people across England will be able to head to their local pub or restaurant for the first time since lockdown began in March.

The hospitality industry is now preparing to welcome back customers with hairdressers, cinemas and museums also looking to reopen.

There is also greater freedom in meeting up with loved ones, something that has been challenging for many over the last three and a half months.

People in England will be allowed to meet those in their household and social bubble and one other household indoors or outdoors, including pubs and restaurants.

The Prime Minister is therefore expected to give the public a warning, urging them to act safely as some of the restrictions are lifted.

At Friday's Downing Street press conference, Mr Johnson will warn the public that the country is 'not out of the woods' and that a local lockdown in Leicester is proof that coronavirus is 'still with us.'

The briefing is expected to take place at 5pm. It will be the first time the PM has addressed the public in this format since he announced the easing of the measures on June 23.
