Latest news
Aaron Chalmers is back in love with MMA after rebounding from his first defeat.
"I did not want to be there that night, if I'm honest. I was battling myself," he admitted to Chronicle Live.
"I couldn't put my finger on it, but backstage beforehand my anxiety was really bad. I hadn't done my refuel right either, so I was hitting the pads and I just felt like I had no power.
"I really feel like I put a lot of demons to bed by winning that last fight. I'm enjoying MMA again now that monkey is off my back.
"There's no pressure on me now. I've already lost, in front of my home fans to top it off. Nothing can feel as bad as that, so what do I have to worry about now? I've always said I turned pro because I love this sport, and I genuinely do.
"I've been criticised for my opponents but Clem is on a two-fight winning steak, so he's a very live opponent. He's a purple belt in ju-jitsu and you don't reach that level by sitting on your couch doing nothing.
"He'll be dangerous on the ground, so keeping it standing is probably where I'll have the best shot, but, you know what, I've been working so hard on my mat work that if it goes to the ground then bring it on.
"I'm in MMA to compete and test myself and that's what I enjoy doing."
