What time Eurovision semi final 1 starts and how to watch it on TV

It is Eurovision Song Contest week with fans looking forward to two semi-finals and the grand final.

It comes after the UK offered to host the competition in Ukraine's stead. Despite winning last year, Ukraine is unable to host because of the ongoing conflict with Russia.

However, before the monumental final takes place, acts from participating countries must take part in one of two semi-finals. Set across two days, 10 singers will be selected to take part in the finals which will ultimately take place in Liverpool.

Many people who will be waiting in anticipation to see who will come out on top in the semi-final may want to watch it live. Here's a breakdown of how you can watch the Eurovision semi-final live...

How to watch the Eurovision semi-final live

Eurovision's first semi-final will be broadcasted live on TV on Tuesday, May 9 at 8pm. Meanwhile, the second semi-final will broadcast live a couple of days later on Thursday, May 11 at 8pm.

People wanting to watch both semi-finals live can do so by either switching to BBC One on their TVs or via BBC iPlayer on other devices such as phones, laptops, and tablets. If you'll be busy when the semi-finals are on and can't watch it, you will still have the option to listen to it as events unfold.

BBC Radio 2 will be broadcasting both semi-finals at the same date and time as they appear on TV.

Who is appearing in the first semi-final?

There are 15 countries taking part in the first semi-final on Tuesday night. Here is the running order:
