What time does the London Marathon 2019 start? TV channel and live stream details

The 2019 London Marathon takes place this weekend.

Here's everything you need to know about the event.

What time does it start?

This year's main marathon in the English capital gets underway at 10:10am on Sunday, April 28. But there are others races taking place too.

  • 09:05  – Elite Wheelchair Races
  • 09:10  – World Para Athletics Marathon Championships Ambulant Athletes
  • 09:25  – The Elite Women's Race
  • 10:10  – The Elite Men's Race, British Athletics & England Athletics Marathon Championships and Mass Race

What TV channel is it on?

Live coverage begins at 8:30am on BBC Two.

From 10am to 2pm, coverage will switch to BBC One.

Highlights will be shown on BBC Two at 6pm.

You can also stream it live on BBC iPlayer.

Who will start this year's race?

Sir Andy Murray will start this year's race in London.

The two-time Wimbledon champion was at the race in 2014 when his wife, Kim, took part.

"It's such an amazing race that means so much to so many people," said the Scot.

"It raises millions each year for charity and helps inspire people to get active.

"I have nothing but admiration for everyone who runs - I may even run it myself one day."

What are the current records?

Eliud Kipchoge set the fastest ever time at the London Marathon in 2016 with a time of 02:03:05.

Paula Radcliffe holds the women's record having set a time of 2:15:25 in the 2003 event.
