What time does Tesco open as supermarket announces new elderly and NHS opening hours

Supermarket giant Tesco has confirmed its stores will now offer dedicated time for elderly customers or NHS workers.

Taking to Twitter to confirm the news, Tesco announced the changes will be applied across all its stores excluding its Express stores from tomorrow (Sunday, March 22).

Its announcement said: “From this Sunday, and every following Sunday, all Tesco stores (except Express stores) will prioritise a browsing hour before checkouts open for NHS workers.

“Because now, more than ever, #EveryLittleHelps.”

Tesco has many stores located across Liverpool including its Litherland and Park Road superstores.

The new measures means every Sunday, those working for the NHS or elderly customers will be able to browse the aisles of their local Tesco stores.

It follows other supermarkets such as Iceland who announced earlier this week its stores would be dedicating its first hours to its elderly customers after fears stockpiling would leave many without.

Marks & Spencer also announced on its Twitter feed its stores would now be offering the first hour of trading on certain days to its “older and vulnerable” customers and to the “brilliant” NHS and emergency workers.

The first hour on Mondays and Thursday will be dedicated to the “older and vulnerable” customers while the first hour on Tuesday and Friday will be dedicated to NHS workers.
