What time do polling stations open on December 12?

The battle buses are parked, the debates are over and voters are set to head to polling stations across the country.

The UK's 46 million voters are invited to choose an MP for their area - one of 650 constituencies.

Anyone aged 18 or over can vote, as long as they are registered and a British citizen or qualifying citizen of the Commonwealth or Republic of Ireland.

This election on December 12 has become the most crucial General Election in years.

To find out the key stats and who won last time, simply enter your postcode in the widget below.

And who will your candidates be? With nominations now closed, you can find that information by entering your postcode too.

But when exactly do polls open, and what do you do at your polling station?

You will have received your polling card through your door which details which polling station near you you have to visit. It could be a local school or community centre. If you have not received your card and know you are registered to vote you can look online on your local authorities website to find out.

Polling stations will be open from 7am on December 12, and close at 10pm.

If you are at the polling station by 10pm you should be allowed to vote, even if there is a queue.

You will mark an X on your ballot paper against the candidate you would like to vote for.
