Results will be announced on Sunday evening once voting in the other EU nations is completed over the course of the weekend.

With voting in the European Parliament elections underway, here's everything you need to know.

What time do polling stations open for the European elections?

Polling stations opened at 7am on Thursday, May 23.

What time do polling stations close today?

Polling stations will close at 10pm. If you are in the queue at 10pm, you will still be able to vote.

Do I need a polling card to vote in the European elections?

If you're voting by post, then you will need to have sent your form in time for it to arrive at your local polling station by 10pm.

It is recommended that you take your polling card with you to vote, however it is not essential.

It is advised that you bring some form of ID with you.

How to find your nearest polling station for the elections

The address of your nearest polling station should be printed on your polling card, which should also have a map directing you to it.

Polling stations are usually in public buildings in the local area, such as a school or town hall.

If you don't have your polling card to hand, head over to wheredoivote.co.uk to find the address, distance and how long it will take to walk.

You could also go onto the website of your local council to find out where to vote.
