What time are the European elections 2019 results due?

In the UK we will go to the polls on Thursday May 23 to vote in the EU elections .

However, the elections concerns multiple countries - all of them in the European Union - which for the time being, still includes the United Kingdom.

So, while we vote on the 23rd in the UK, the election goes on until the 26th in some other countries.

The election results will then be reported live as they are declared on Sunday 26 May 2019.

With counting starting at 10pm on Sunday night, results will be announced later that evening and following morning.

What happens after results are announced?

In the days immediately following the results, the new Members of the new Parliament work to form political groups.

The political composition of the new Parliament may require new allegiances to be formed and new groups may emerge.

At its first plenary session, the new Parliament will elect a new President of the European Parliament.

The new Parliament will then elect the new President of the European Commission and later will examine and approve the entire Commission.
