What time and TV channel is Serbia v Republic of Ireland on tonight? All you need to know about the World Cup qualifier

Ireland will get their 2022 World Cup qualifying bid underway tonight as they face a tough trip to face Serbia.

The Boys in Green, still chasing their first win under Stephen Kenny, are in Belgrade for the crunch opener as underdogs.

And injuries have once again hampered Kenny's plans in the build-up to the international window as key men such as Darren Randolph, John Egan, James McCarthy and Conor Hourihane are all ruled out.

But there was a timely boost earlier this week as the entire Ireland camp tested negative for Covid-19 while Aaron Connolly shook off a rib injury to fly out with the squad on Monday.

Here's everything you need to know about the big game:

Where and when is the game being played?

The game is on Wednesday March 24 at the Red Star Stadium in Belgrade.

What time is kick-off?

Kick-off is at 7.45 pm

Is it on TV?

RTE will broadcast the match live, coverage on RTE Two gets underway at 7 pm.

You can also follow all the live updates on the Irish Mirror's live blog of the game.

Ireland manager Stephen Kenny: “Our style of play, the way we want to encourage players to pass the ball, will never change. That’s what I believe in.

“Sometimes we’ll have to be flexible tactically. We can't just play the one system. Depending who is available, you change the system to suit the players.

“But we’re definitely not changing our intent to dominate possession or try and control games. I’ll never stop doing that.”

Kenny added: “Once you take this job as international manager there's always scrutiny. You accept that as part of management and I’ve no problem with that.

“I want to get positive results and put in a really strong performance in Serbia.”
