What Tiger Woods said about his Dad and children after winning The Masters

Tiger Woods offered an emotional response to his stunning Masters victory at Augusta.

Woods rolled back the years to claim his first Major win since 2008 and claim his fifth Green Jacket.

The win came some 22 years after his first Augusta triumph, which has become known for his greenside embrace with father Earl.

Woods' Dad, who first taught him golf as a toddler, passed away in 2006 but his mother Kultida was in attednance to watch her son make history.

The 43-year-old made a beeline for his son, Charlie, and the pair shared an emotional moment immediately after the 18th hole.

And Woods declared "it's come full circle" in scenes which mirrored those he enjoyed with his father back in 1997.

Woods said: "I'm a little hoarse I think from yelling!

"I was just trying to plod my way around the golf course all day, just plod my way around.

"All of a sudden I had the lead, and going down 18 I was just trying to make a 5.

"When the putt went in, I don't know what I did, but I was just trying to find Charlie.

"To have my kids there, it's come full circle. My dad was here in 1997 and now I'm the dad with two kids there.

"It's unreal to experience this.

"My Mom was here, she was here in 1997 as well, and she couldn't be more excited.

"When I was there with my Dad, he shouldn't have been there that year. He was recovering from a heart attack, from heart surgery.

"Now I'm there with Charlie. That embrace, it's just special.

"Sam (his daughter) actually lost a state soccer tournament yesterday, so I convinced her to come up and watch The Masters.

"Luckily I was able to win!"

Tiger Woods winning The Masters 2019 labelled "greatest comeback in sports"

Woods' win has been labelled one of the greatest sports comebacks of all-time after he underwent four back surgeries which almost cost him his career.

"It's overwhelming, I think because of what has transpired," he admitted.

"Last year I was just very lucky to be playing again.

"The previous champions' dinner I was really struggling.

"I missed a couple of years of playing this great tournament, now to be winning it.

"I'm kind of lost for words to be honest with you.

"This is one of the hardest I've ever had to win, I think just because of what has transpired.

"I've had a chance the last two major championships, I applied what I learnt and managed to get there today."

Woods also revealed a more patient approach to his play enabled him to emerge at the top of the leaderboard after a chaotic finish.

"It was as patient as I was for a number of years out there," Woods declared.

"The way I was plodding around the golf course, controlling my emotions, my shot placement.

"These different scenarios start flying around, and it was a just amazing buzz out there trying to figure out what was going on and at the same time trying to stay focused out there.

"I kind of liked it!"
