What Thursday's transfer deadline means for Christian Eriksen and Tottenham

Spurs fans are all praying that Mauricio Pochettino can add to his squad before Thursday's transfer deadline.

It has been rather quiet at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in terms of incomings since the start of July following the transfers that saw Tanguy Ndombele and Jack Clarke move to the club.

Giovani Lo Celso's name just doesn't seem to go away regarding a summer move, while Bruno Fernandes, Ryan Sessegnon and Paulo Dybala have all been linked with a move to N17 before the transfer window slams shut until January.

While there will hopefully be some players coming in through the door over the next couple of days, there could also a few of the squad moving onto pastures new ahead of the 2019/20 campaign.

Christian Eriksen is one of those given his comments about a summer move while representing Denmark back in June, with Toby Alderweireld and Danny Rose also potential departures from the club.

Thursday's transfer deadline means that Spurs won't be able to sign any new players until the window reopens once again in January, yet there could still be exits from the club over the coming weeks.

That's because the Premier League transfer window shuts ahead of the new season and before the windows close in other countries across Europe.

Although a move to Real Madrid for Eriksen now looks highly unlikely given that Donny van de Beek looks set to join Los Blancos if they can agree on a fee with Ajax, he could still seal a move to a La Liga club, potentially Atletico Madrid, before the deadline on Monday, September 2.

It's also exactly the same deadline in France and Germany as August 31 falls on a Saturday this year.

However, if any Italian clubs are interested in signing Spurs players then they have slightly less time to complete any deals.

As is the case in the Premier League, the transfer window shuts ahead of the new Serie A campaign and clubs need to complete any business by Friday, August 23.

It seems that there will still be a lot of transfer talk regarding Tottenham players beyond Thursday.
