What Thomas Tuchel has done after Chelsea's back-to-back defeats against Man City and Juventus

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has offered an insight into how he and his team react when they hit a setback as the club has over the past week.

A 1-0 defeat to Manchester City last Saturday was followed by a loss to Juventus in the Champions League by the same scoreline, triggering some disgruntlement among supporters.

But despite the disappointment of the two defeats, Tuchel has revealed that he is determined to take any positives from the situation that he can ahead of Saturday's clash with Southampton.

Speaking ahead of the Stamford Bridge fixture, the German spoke of what lessons have been learned and also how it has affected the squad, revealing that honest conversations have been had in the aftermath.

"We don't enjoy losing but we enjoy the challenge and the process," he said in an interview with Chelsea TV.

"What is does, also. It makes you question everything, it makes you get out of bed early and analyse everything. This is the job, we love.

"In difficult moments, this is the job to do. It's important to support, to feel the support and support the players. Support can sometimes mean that you criticise, that you're honest, that you focus on the positive things.

"It's tough to accept always [losses] but they make you very aware of how to improve."

Ralph Hasenhuttl's side head into the game without a win in the Premier League this season, but with four points from six games so far, including draws with Manchester United and Manchester City. So while the Saints could be seen as ideal opponents, Chelsea will be wise to show them the respect they deserve.

Stamford Bridge has been a happy hunting ground for the visitors of late and Southampton have not lost in west London in their past three visits.

Chelsea versus Southampton kicks off at 3pm and football.london will have all the latest as it happens.
