What Thomas Partey has said about playing in the Premier League amid Arsenal and Man City links

Recent reports from Spain have suggest that Arsenal and Manchester City are interested in signing Atletico Madrid's Thomas Partey.

The midfielder has been a crucial cog in Diego Simeone's side over the last two seasons earning minutes across all competitions in the team's search for trophies.

That said, ESPN believe that the Ghana international is excited by the interest from Unai Emery and Pep Guardiola and is keeping his options open after being knocked out of the Champions League by Juventus - Partey was suspended for the second leg - while Atleti are currently nine points behind Barcelona in La Liga.

It's not the first time that the midfielder's interest in a move to the Premier League has been touted however. Last summer the 25-year-old noted that he would like to play in the competition in the future.

He said at the time: "At the moment, I am happy at my club but in football, you never know when and where you'll be in the next day or year.

"The Premier League is a good league, it's very competitive and has some of the best players in the world. Hopefully, one day. I would like to play there."

The 17-times capped star said that he was happy for his agents to deal with any interest.

"My agents are on it so I will leave everything for them," he added. "For me, I am happy playing football and I will continue to play where I am now until something comes up for consideration."

AS do suggest Diego Simeone sees Partey as crucial for his project next season and has recently increased release clause to €50 million and extended his contract until 2023, so the defensive midfielder won't come cheap.
