What Thomas Partey has done on Instagram after signing for Arsenal on transfer deadline day

Thomas Partey is just days away from training with his new Arsenal teammates for the first time since his £45m transfer was completed.

The midfielder's move from Atletico Madrid was completed on transfer deadline, although with it being the international break he won't report to London Colney until next week ahead of the Premier League clash against Manchester City.

Partey is one of five new faces in north London this summer - seven if the Cedric Soares and Pablo Mari deals are included - and his debut could come at the Etihad Stadium a week on Saturday.

The lowdown and verdict on Arsenal's transfer window

Since completing his move to Arsenal, Partey has been active on social media. Firstly, he posted a farewell message to Atletico Madrid with a lengthy post on Instagram.

"Dear Atletico fans, today I only have words of gratitude with you," he wrote. "For several years now, Atlético de Madrid has been my home and a part of this family will always be with me.

"I want to thank the club for the trust placed in me from day one, but above all, I want to thank you, this wonderful hobby that I accepted from the first moment and that has shown that it is both in good times and in bad times and you never truly stop believing.

"Atlético de Madrid is not just a club, it is a family.

"Thank you."

And now Partey has updated his Instagram profile page to show he's an Arsenal player.

Speaking after the signing was confirmed, manager Mikel Arteta told Arsenal fans what to expect from the new £45m signing.

"We have been watching Thomas for a while, so we’re now delighted to add such a high-quality player to our squad," he told the club's official website. "He is a dynamic midfielder with great energy.

"He brings a lot of experience from a top club that has competed at the highest level in La Liga and the Champions League for several years.

"We’re very impressed with his attitude and his approach to the game.

"He’s an intelligent footballer and we’re looking forward to him integrating into our system and contributing to the progress we’re building at the moment at the club."
