What Thomas Frank has said about Mathias Jensen as Brentford sign midfielder from Celta Vigo

Brentford have continued to strengthen their squad with the signing of Mathias Jensen from Celta Vigo today (Wednesday).

The Danish midfielder has become the latest player to join the Bees this summer, following on from the arrival of Pontus Jansson from Leeds United earlier this week.

The 23-year-old has signed a four-year deal with Brentford, with the option to extend for another 12 months to June 2024, with Jensen joining for an undisclosed fee from the La Liga side.

And Brentford head coach Thomas Frank has spoken of his delight at signing Jensen, who made his name with FC Nordsjaelland in Denmark.

"I am very pleased that Mathias is joining us as he will help push the club forward," he told Brentford's club website .

"Mathias is a very talented young player who can dictate the game and has a great passing ability. His arrival gives us flexibility and strength in depth in midfield, no matter what system we look to play.

"Since the start of last season, we have lost four midfielders. Now, with Mathias' arrival, we have a group of top quality central midfielders with different skills sets which we can use in various combinations."

Jensen made his debut at the age of 19 when he replaced Emiliano Marcondes as a substitute for FCN and was a regular in the Danish top flight at the age of 20, with the midfielder named captain of FCN two years later, scoring 12 goals in 35 games that season.

A move to Celta Vigo followed last summer, although Jensen had injury problems during his time in Spain and only played six La Liga games last season.

Jensen is the sixth player to join the Bees this summer, with Christian Norgaard, Ethan Pinnock, David Raya and Pontus Jansson joining the first team and Kane O'Connor linking up with Brentford's B team.

The Dane has joined the rest of the Brentford squad in Austria as Frank's side continue their preparations for the new season.
