What Thiago Alcantara did for Harvey Elliott as Jurgen Klopp mocks Kostas Tsimikas at Liverpool

Liverpool demonstrated the team spirit that has seen the Reds go 18 games unbeaten in all competitions, stretching back to last season.

The team lined up for a squad photoshoot and the video gave some insight into the daily dynamics between several of the players.

Here’s four things we spotted from the latest look behind the scenes.

Thiago helping Harvey

Harvey Elliott was the last man out to the pitch at Kirkby, appearing on crutches as he continued his recovery from a dislocated ankle.

It looked set to be a breakthrough season for the 18-year-old, who had started three consecutive league games under Klopp. However, the rest of the Liverpool squad seemed to be doing all they could to help make life easier for the young midfielder.

After the photos had finished, the camera cut to the heart-warming scene of Thiago giving Elliott a lift back to the dressing room on a buggy.

Van Dijk and Matip

The relationship between the two centre-backs is well-known, as Virgil Van Dijk demonstrated when wearing a t-shirt of his teammate’s face during pre-season .

Before the photoshoot, the Dutchman commented to the camera about how he had told Joel Matip ’s barber to give him a fade, with the exasperated defender replying, “Don’t speak about me, please!”

The good-natured banter between the pair continued when Van Dijk spotted that the German was carrying his red boots out on to the training pitch.

“He’s not wearing boots again. He wants to do his own thing! Red boots, Ballon d'Or candidate with those dribbles.

"Look at the majestic walk,” he joked as the 30-year-old continued to face away from the camera.

“Why am I always on the front?”

As Andy Robertson ran out for the picture, it only took a few seconds for him to appear frustrated.

“Why am I always on the front?” he exclaimed, when seeing his position for the photo - but Van Dijk was quick to respond: “Because you’re small.”

The Scotsman felt even further aggrieved when Trent Alexander-Arnold was placed behind him, blaming the right-back’s hairstyle for making him look taller.

The Greek Scouser

It’s fair to say that Kostas Tsimikas has endeared himself to the Anfield crowd with some impressive performances this season - but the defender is still adjusting to English weather.

It appears his “Greek Scouser” nickname has travelled into the training ground, with Jurgen Klopp using it to mock Tsimikas for feeling the cold.

“The Greek Scouser, eh? You tell him, it’s not that cold,” the Reds boss said. “After five or six years you get used to it. You go, “it’s fine.”
