What the world said as Taoiseach Leo Varadkar makes headlines for sunbathing in Phoenix Park

The Taoiseach's visit to the Phoenix Park on Sunday didn't go unnoticed worldwide with news sites across the globe picking it up.

Mr Varadkar hung out with his partner and two friends in Dublin's Phoenix Park on Sunday afternoon - as per the current restrictions.

Pictures of the Fine Gael leader spread quickly on social media with many accusing the Taoiseach of breaking the very rules he put into law.

However, a spokesperson for Mr Varadkar cleared up that he was withing 5km of his residence and not breaking any rules.

That hasn't stopped the Taoiseach making news across the world with topless pictures making it onto the New York Post amongst others.

USA's Daily Express: Topless Irish leader Leo Varadkar sparks fury after having a picnic in the park

The Daily Express across the Atlantic stated that many people were frustrated by the Taoiseach's actions but that it was "difficult to judge whether Mr Varadkar was keeping his distance".

Australia's news.com.au: Ireland Prime Minister caught breaking isolation in public park

This Aussie site said the Fine Gael leader was "breaking isolation" although they may not be entirely clear what the rules are here.
