What the weather will be like for Bristol Balloon Fiesta's third day

Organisers have announced two scheduled mass ascents will not take place today after experts issued a yellow weather warning for wind.

Gusts of around 40mph could hit Bristol today (August 9) - making for unsuitable flying conditons.

Forecasters say Saturday is going to start wet, with downpours persisting until around 2pm.

Drier conditions are expected until around 4pm, when more showers could arrive.

A Met Office spokesperson said: "Sunny spells and well scattered showers during the morning, but many places turning dry during the afternoon. A very windy day, with gales continuing, especially along the coast. Maximum temperature 21 °C."

But things could be looking up on Sunday when strong winds should die down. There is a high chance of rain between 10am until 1pm.

After that the conditions could be perfect for getting some balloons into the air.

Talking about Sunday, the spokesperson added: "Remaining changeable with a mix of sunshine and showers, with the showers possibly heavy and thundery, especially Monday. Winds lighter than Saturday, but still breezy, and feeling cooler than recently.
