Canberrans can prepare for a beautiful, fine and sunny Easter long weekend, with barely a cloud forecast until Monday.

A particularly warm start to April is expected with Good Friday to hit a top of 27, with just a chance of early fog in the morning and a low of 9.

Saturday will be much the same and Easter Sunday will welcome a sunny top of 28.

Cloud cover will likely return on Monday, with a top of 26 forecast.

Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Helen Reid said there was a higher chance of Canberrans at the south coast experiencing a shower on Monday.

There's a 60 per cent chance of up to 4mm falling at Batemans Bay.

"We're liking the look of the Canberra forecast," Ms Reid said.

"The only thing is there may be some foggy patches and cooler mornings."

The warm weather will be a welcome change after rain tore through the capital last week, with more than 50mm recorded on March 23.
