What the Tua Tagovailoa decision means for Redskins

It’s all about the trade value.

The Washington Redskins, along with the rest of the sports world, watched on early this week as Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa announced he will indeed enter the 2020 NFL draft.

And that means a very top-heavy quarterback class suddenly has two names at the top, which will again create a sense of desperation for those teams in need of a quarterback.

And those teams are many, ranging from Cincinnati to Miami and beyond,.

The idea of trading away the second overall pick to a team in need of a quarterback sounds great, especially after the Redskins sacrificed this year’s second-round pick last year to move back up and get Montez Sweat.

Granted, any move would mean giving up a chance at Chase Young, which isn’t ideal for a team that thinks it already has a franchise passer and would love to grab one of the best pass rushers to enter the draft in recent years.

There is plenty of time for the Redskins to think on this, of course. But the point here is the No. 2 pick just became even more valuable, which is impressive as it is.
