What the roadmap says about meeting people indoors

Boris Johnson's roadmap for recovery is being published today and unlocks England in several, distinct stages.

From March 29, outdoor gatherings of either six people or a larger group from up to two households will be allowed. This includes meetings in private gardens.

It is timed to coincide with the Easter holidays, when many families had hoped to meet up.

But friends and families are still not allowed to gather indoors at this point.

Then, from April 12 at the earliest, non-essential shops, hairdressers and nail salons will reopen, along with libraries and museums. Zoos, theme parks and hospitality will reopen.

Hairdressers will reopen on April 12 at the earliest (PA)

But wider social contact rules will apply at these settings. Again, you would not be allowed to have indoor mixing between households.

And although gyms and leisure centres are open - you can only visit with members of your own household.

Self-contained accommodation - campsites and holiday lets where indoor facilities are not shared - can also reopen. Families can visit self-catering cottages, but again only with one household.

Indoor mixing will be allowed again from May 17 at the earliest.

And indoors, the rule of six will continue or for a group of two households of any size. But these restrictions will be removed if you are in a beer garden and they will be "kept under review to see if it is safe to go further."

And hopefully by June 21 at the earliest "all of the legal limits on social contact cane be removed". It is hoped that final sectors of the economy such as nightclubs will reopen at this point.

And at this point, a decision will be made on whether all limits can be removed on weddings and other life events.

From May 17 at the earliest, people from different households will be able to go on holiday together.
