What the pundits are predicting for the London derby between Spurs & West Ham

Tottenham Hotspur took a step closer to securing a place in the Premier League top four on Tuesday night as they defeated Brighton 1-0.

A late goal from Christian Eriksen moved Spurs four points clear of fifth-placed Arsenal ahead of Saturday's game against West Ham United.

With three games left of the campaign, the Hammers are in 11th place after their 2-2 draw with Leicester City last time out.

Three pundits have now given their verdict on the game and they are predicting good news for Spurs.

BBC pundit Mark Lawrenson - Spurs 2-1 West Ham

"Tottenham left it very late against Brighton on Tuesday but that win - and other results for the teams just below them - has put them in a strong position to finish in the top four," he said in his weekly predictions feature for the BBC website.

"There is still work for them to do, though. Like Liverpool, Mauricio Pochettino's side also have a Champions League semi-final to think about - against Ajax on Tuesday - but they have to pick a strong line-up here.

"West Ham carry a threat but they are very inconsistent, and I think Spurs will get the three points they need.

BetVictor columnist Michael Owen - Spurs 3-1 West Ham

"It looked like being one of those nights for Spurs against Brighton midweek but Christian Eriksen’s late winner was enough to give the hosts their fourth successive win since moving into the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and they have yet to concede a goal in that run," he said in his weekly blog for the bookmaker.

"West Ham played their part in a terrific game against Leicester last weekend, but they continue to leak goals and I feel the hosts will gain another valuable three points although they may lose their proud defensive home record.

Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson - Spurs 2-1 West Ham

"It'll be hard for Tottenham with one eye on next week, they've got to. It's a once in a lifetime thing, in my opinion. With the scores across the last week, they're only a win away from the top four. But they can't afford any injuries before the Ajax game," he said in his weekly predictions feature for the Sky Sports website.

"You just don't know what you're going to get with West Ham. They are the Premier League bag of revels. One minute they have to score four to beat Huddersfield, then get ripper up by Everton at home, then go to United and nearly win. It's a strange one.
