What the pundits are predicting for Chelsea's Premier League clash against Newcastle United

Chelsea have started to pick up some form after a stumbling start to the campaign and Frank Lampard's side will be aiming to secure another positive result against Newcastle United this weekend.

Four wins in a row in all competitions have seen Chelsea find their feet, with Lampard's side only outside the Champions League places on goal difference.

While the visitors to the Bridge this weekend picked up a huge three points in their last outing before the international break. Matty Longstaff's goal on his Premier League debut secured the Magpies all three points against Manchester United, and moved them out of the drop zone as a result.

However, none of three pundits can see Newcastle picking up a result against the Blues, and you can see what they have had to say below.

Charlie Nicholas - Sky Sports - 2-1 Chelsea

This is everybody's banker of the weekend, but Newcastle have gone to Tottenham and won, which people questioned. They then beat Manchester United at home but it wasn't sensational. Steve Bruce will be saying that this is a free swing.

Chelsea have the youngsters and are playing well, but they will have a roller coaster season, which is what I said from the start. These are the games that it took Liverpool years to overcome - these teams sit in and don't threaten, but try to frustrate.

Newcastle do this and they did it at Tottenham, this is the type of team they are. Chelsea will get there, but I don't see them dominating unless they score in the first 10 minutes - I see it being tight

Mark Lawrenson - BBC Sport - 2-0 Chelsea

Newcastle's win over Manchester United was such a good day for Magpies manager Steve Bruce, the Longstaff brothers, the fans - everyone at the club.

It is going to be hard for them to build on that victory against Chelsea, though. The Blues have won their past four games, and it looks like they have turned the corner.

Michael Owen - BetVictor - Chelsea to win and both teams to score

Newcastle were outstanding against a poor Manchester United side at St James’ Park in their last game and thoroughly deserved the points, although I think they will do well to keep this exciting young Chelsea side at arm’s length at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea have won their last four games in all competitions and look full of goals at present. Frank Lampard’s side have come a long way in a short space of time since their heavy opening-weekend defeat at Old Trafford.
