What the pundits are predicting as Burnley face Arsenal at Turf Moor in the Premier League

Fresh from their Europa League heroics, Arsenal return to their bread and butter this weekend.

But with a place in the top four now seemingly beyond their reach, Unai Emery's side will no doubt still be looking to bring the curtain down on their Premier League campaign with a win.

Despite their impressive form in Europe in recent weeks, when it comes to domestic matters it has been a totally different story for the Gunners.

Last weekend's 1-1 draw with Brighton at the Emirates extended Arsenal's winless run in the league to four games, while their hosts also come into the game looking to return winning ways after two straight defeats.

And pundits are predicting a tight affair between the pair in East Lancashire. We take a look at their predictions below.

BBC Sport pundit Mark Lawrenson - Burnley 1-1 Arsenal

"Arsenal have struggled on the road, losing eight of their 18 away league games so far this season, and I cannot imagine they are looking forward to this trip too much.

"Burnley kept City out at Turf Moor for an hour at the end of April but I don't think the Clarets will sit in like that against the Gunners. Why would you?

"Arsenal's big weakness is at the back and this will be another test for their defence. I can see Burnley getting it forward to their front two and thinking they can pose Unai Emery's side some problems.

Glenn Hoddle makes bold Europa League finals prediction after Arsenal and Chelsea progress

"I would give Emery a 7/10 for his first season as Gunners boss, but that would rise to an 8/10 if he won the Europa League and got into the Champions League that way, but they are not going to make it through their league position.

"Yes, they can still match Tottenham's points tally, but they will not be able to better their goal difference."

Ozil annoys the Valencia fans, Aubameyang emotion and a plastic mess - Arsenal moments missed

Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson - Burnley 2-1 Arsenal

"I'm saying this before the Valencia away game but whether Arsenal win or lose in Spain, they'll probably get beat at Burnley.

"Emery has to rest everyone if they go through, there's no point putting out a first-choice team and they'll not get back from Spain until late, and we could see a lot of players we've rarely seen in an Arsenal shirt before."

BetVictor columnist Michael Owen - Draw

"Burnley have lost their last nine games with Arsenal in all competitions, but I believe the Clarets will pick up a point at Turf Moor irrespective of the Gunners’ result at Valencia in the Europa League on Thursday.

"Sean Dyche was not happy with his side’s opening 45-minutes at Goodison on Friday and I expect to see a much-improved performance from his side on Sunday.

"Arsenal must win to stand any chance of finishing in the top four, but their poor second-half against Brighton last weekend summed their inconsistent PL season up."
