What the press commentators are saying...

Both Peter Wilby in The Guardian and Stephen Glover in The Independent deal in similar fashion with exaggerated coverage of the floods. Wilby records a catalogue of over-hyped press stories about the British floods, pointing out that "papers cherry-picked the policy issues to suit their political agendas." Glover concentrates his fire on the "scaremongering" stuff about killer bugs.

Peter Preston in The Observer discusses the possibility of a newspaper ditching newsprint in favour of its website version. It's based on the argument in Business Week about the problems faced by the loss-making San Francisco Chronicle.
