What the Premier League suspension means for Pulisic, Abraham and Chelsea's injured stars

The Premier League's postponement of matches until April 4 at the least due to the coronavirus pandemic will have an impact on Chelsea and their injury list.

On Friday morning the Premier League, Women's Super League and EFL divisions were all suspended until at least after the upcoming international break.

There are some fears that football could remain postponed for longer, especially if some teams have to self-isolate towards the end of the month if new cases of coronavirus are discovered inside their squads or staff.

The coronavirus, of course, has already had a big impact on the Blues, with Callum Hudson-Odoi having tested positive for the virus.

The first team area of the Cobham training ground was shut down, while the squad and coaching staff were sent to self isolate.

Hudson-Odoi took to social media to tell fans that he had recovered and was resting up at home before hoping to return to the squad as soon as he was able.

Of course, the suspension of the league, plus the postponement of the FA Cup and Champions League, means that there is set to be a fixture back-log.

The Blues will have to find space to play Aston Villa, Leicester City, Manchester City and Bayern Munich, as well as the scheduled fixtures if the campaign does get back under way next month.

Tammy Abraham was out of action with an ankle knock, while Christian Pulisic (adductor) and Ruben Loftus-Cheek (ankle) at played Development Squad matches to get back to full fitness.

Mateo Kovacic had just returned to training after his Achilles injury, while N'Golo Kante was still struggling to recover from an adductor issue.

But now the time off will give those players the chance to be fully recovered, should the campaign get back under way at the beginning of April.

The league's suspension was certainly the right call in terms of putting safety and the health of those involved on and off the pitch first,
