As summer goes, August has been something of a washout.

A warmer end to August is being predicted, with a heatwave predicted to arrive in the UK come September.

The Met Office is also predicting good weather for the whole of the country in the coming weeks, with "fine and settled weather across the UK" and "rather warm" temperatures in the West.

A forecaster said: "From Monday will be mainly fine and dry, with rather warm temperatures in the west initially and more widely later in the last week of August and into September.

"There will be increasing amounts of sunshine and settled conditions, with high pressure likely to dominate."

Temperatures are expected to the mid-20s, even hitting a high of 27C in some parts of the country.
