What the Met Office says about reports of a 'snow deluge' and 'bitter Nordic blast' coming this week

Reports of a "snow deluge" and a "bitter Nordic blast" are dominating the weather headlines today, with one news website warning of 14in of snow.

The Daily Express says: "Flood warnings in place as Britain braces for snow deluge."

They add: "Bitter Nordic blast to dump over 14 INCHES of snow on Britain next week."

But what does the Met Office have to say? This is what the UK’s weather service is forecasting for the week ahead in Wales.

Are there any severe weather warnings in place?

The Met Office has not issued any severe weather warnings affecting Wales for the next seven days.

There is a yellow warning for wind covering parts of Scotland and north England for Tuesday.

Are there any flood warning in place?

Natural Resources Wales has not issued any flood warnings or flood alerts.

There are eight flood warnings and 26 flood alerts in place for England - mostly in the south west.

The weather forecast for Wales is: 

Today - A cloudy day with some drizzle, feeling mild with highs of 10C .

Tomorrow - Outbreaks of heavy rain followed by clearer spells.

Tuesday - Breezy with spells of rain.

Wednesday - Some heavy rain in south and west Wales.

Thursday - Further outbreaks of rain.

How cold is it going to get?

It's not due to drop below freezing in Wales this week. The coldest temperatures are expected to be overnight on Thursday, with 4C forecast in Bala, Builth Wells, Merthyr Tydfil and Newtown.
