Debenhams is closing 19 stores across the UK it was confirmed this weekend.
The high street retailer, provided a list of its branches which would be closing with Southport's Lord Street shop among those to shut its doors.
It will be closing on January 19.
Other stores confirmed for closure where based further afield including in Altrincham and Birmingham.
One store not included in the list was Liverpool ONE's Debenhams store - but does this mean its future is certain?
Liverpool ONE's Debenhams store is one of the retailer's flagships meaning it would be unusual for it to be among the first to close, if it does at all.
However, it hasn't stopped shoppers speculating about the future of the store.
On Facebook, one user said: "I spoke to a sales assistant today and she said don't take any chances if you have vouchers spend them ASAP as they will all be going sooner rather than later."
And another user added: "Liverpool ONE is safe for now might go on Monday"
Others were quick to have their say on why yet another high street retailer is closing stores.
One person said: "The digital age is killing everything off its only going to get much worse. People hiding behind devices and not venturing out to shop to meet new people."
And a second added: "I hate online shopping. Like to feel material and see finish always liked Debenhams great shame if it goes."
