The good news for Tottenham Hotspur fans is that Mauricio Pochettino will not be the new Arsenal head coach.
Following the Argentine's departure last month he was linked with the managerial vacancy at the Emirates Stadium after Unai Emery had been sacked less than 24 hours after the Gunners' 2-1 home loss against Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League.
To make things rather interesting, the Manchester Evening News claime Pochettino was open to the idea of becoming the next Arsenal manager despite ties to the Lilywhites.
That would have been a sight not too many Spurs fans would have been able to stomach.
Luckily, that won't be the case as Arsenal confirmed the appointment of Mikel Arteta on Friday afternoon, thus putting the Pochettino rumours to rest.
But what does is mean for the ex-Spurs boss?
Well, last week there was talk of him being lined up to replace Pep Guardiola at Manchester City.
The Daily Mail reported that Guardiola has a break release clause inserted in his contract which would allow him to leave the Etihad Stadium at the end of this season.
In addition, the report stated that City have drawn up contingency plans with officials at the Etihad Stadium and are admirers of Pochettino and could offer him the chance to return to the Premier League next summer.
However, the 48-year-old swiftly denied that any such clause exists when asked about his future in his pre-match press conference ahead of facing Arsenal, as reported by the Manchester Evening News.
"No, it’s not true," he said. "I spoke about my intentions a few weeks ago."
So that would appear to rule out a move to Man City, but links to the Manchester United job are unlikely to go away regardless of what Ole Gunnar Solskjaer does between now and the end of the season.
The M.E.N have also previously reported that Pochettino wants to become the next Man United manager.
Is it possible that the Argentine puts his feet up until the end of the season and then assesses his options?
