'What the f***?' - Jurgen Klopp describes first time he saw Liverpool star Mohamed Salah

Mohamed Salah was forced to laugh away a question from Sky Sports about whether Liverpool should keep or sell the world-class attacker.

In doing so, the Egyptian winger immediately made his position clear about wanting to continue on with the Reds and play under a manager who has always been a big fan.

In that, Jurgen Klopp has previously admitted to being stunned after watching Salah perform on a football pitch for the first time.

The Liverpool boss, who was then at the helm of Borussia Dortmund, explained Salah was relatively unknown when he took his Bundesliga side to face Basel.

However, Salah immediately impressed with Klopp watching on.

The German manager revealed the attacker was "unbelievable" during the game and he wanted to sign him from Chelsea while he was at BVB but the move didn't come off and the superstar moved to Fiorentina and Roma before arriving at Liverpool to set the world alight with his talent.

And when Salah arrived at Anfield, Klopp was asked about the player's previous spell in England with Chelsea but totally dismissed any concerns while also making the revelation about the first time he saw him play.

“A lot of players have shown it is quite easy to struggle at Chelsea. (Kevin) De Bruyne is one,” Klopp said at the time.

“The only thing that we really ignored was what he did at Chelsea. When he was at Basel we (Dortmund) played them and we didn’t know him. It was ‘what the f**k?’. It was unbelievable. The moment I said ‘let’s go for him’ he was already at Chelsea.

“Then he struggled at Chelsea because it was too early. Then he went to Fiorentina and then Roma.

“The question is ‘what did you not see in him?’ because he played all inclusive football. He was quick, he played a lot of games, he created goals and chances and he scored by himself.”
