What the Anderlecht chief has said about summer transfer plans amid links to Spurs striker

This summer could see the exit of Vincent Janssen from Tottenham Hotspur.

The Dutchman arrived in north London from AZ in the summer of 2016 and was expected to challenge Harry Kane for his spot as Mauricio Pochettino's first-choice centre-forward.

However, he struggled during his first season and was loaned out to Fenerbahce the next.

It was somewhat of surprise that Janssen wasn't moved on permanently last summer but a foot injury ruled him out for the majority of the season just gone, although he did make a substitute appearance against Brighton back in April.

In addition, there seemed to be a route back into the first-team picture after being handed the no.9 shirt back coupled with comments made by Pochettino.

"Why not? I accept people can make mistakes and giving second chances is an important thing," Pochettino said when asked whether Janssen had a future at the club.

But it would appear that Spurs and Pochettino are ready to let Janssen go should a suitable offer come in this summer and the striker has been linked with a return to Fenerbahce as well as Belgian side Anderlecht.

The topic of transfers was raised to Michael Verschueren, sporting director at Anderlecht and he said: "We are almost there," in regards to bringing in new players for Vincent Kompany, as reported by HLN.

Although it should be pointed out that he didn't reference Janssen directly.
