There are alternative ways to enter problematic and reserved characters in web addresses. The one you are most likely to see is %20, which is used to replace a space. For the \ character, you can substitute %5C, and for the / character, %2F. There is a list of common escape characters at http://www.contractwebdevelopment.com/url-escape-characters
