What Taoiseach Micheal Martin, NPHET and Government are doing today and when public will get lockdown answers

The public are expected to be briefed on the Government's lockdown exit plan on Friday evening when the December restrictions will be revealed.

The National Public Health Emergency Team met on Wednesday where they considered all the latest data and assessed where Ireland should move to next in containing the virus.

Reports suggested that Dr Tony Holohan and his team remained worried about the level of cases and the high incidence rates in a number of counties.

A recommendation will be sent by the Chief Medical Officer to Health Minister Stephen Donnelly who will then begin Government discussions.

It is expected that the Cabinet sub-committee will meet today - this includes the Taoiseach, Tanaiste and Green Party Leader - where the NHPET guidance will be discussed.

The main members of NPHET - Dr Holohan, Dr Ronan Glynn and Professor Philip Nolan - are often included in these meetings too.
