What Tammy Abraham did after Olivier Giroud scored four goals in Chelsea's win over Sevilla

Olivier Giroud has given Frank Lampard a major selection dilemma ahead of Chelsea's Premier League clash against Leeds United.

The 34-year-old scored all four goals against Sevilla on Wednesday night as the Blues topped their Champions League group with a game to spare, meaning they could get a favourable draw in the last-16.

But will Giroud's outstanding individual display earn him a start when Leeds visit Stamford Bridge on Saturday?

Well, Glenn Hoddle believes the Frenchman has proven why he should lead the line against Marcelo Bielsa's side when Chelsea return to domestic action.

"He was out of this world. He was brilliant," Hoddle told BT Sport. "We said before the game how he has to get a chance to start and that is why he is that good.

"He has to start at the weekend now, he has scored four goals.

"I am not sure Frank would have had him in his plans but my word, what a performance, different class.

"It is very difficult to leave him out because his all-round performance was excellent. But when the goals come, he can't wait to get out on that football pitch again and watch out Leeds because he has so much confidence.

"He has that belief now in scoring goals. He is in this rich vein of form and it's very difficult to leave him out. He has earned that. It's a perfect hat-trick and then he goes and gets the penalty as well."

If Lampard does hand Giroud a first Premier League start of the season against Leeds, it means Tammy Abraham is likely to miss out.

The England international was told to "step up" by Blues legend Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink after the goalless draw against Tottenham Hotspur last weekend, a game in which he failed to make the most of decent service from Reece James.

And Abraham looked on from the bench as Giroud did his chances of starting against Leeds no harm.

But as the image above shows, Abraham appears to be relishing the battle to be Chelsea's first-choice striker.

When the Frenchman was substituted after scoring four times against Sevilla, he got a warm reception from his teammates - including Abraham who was visibly delighted for the striker.

Speaking after the game, Lampard refused to confirm if Giroud would be handed a start against Leeds, but did agree that would be tough to leave him out.

"Yeah, and that's what you ask I suppose, when you make nine changes," Lampard told reporters in his post-match press conference.

"I always say when I pick the team I try to pick the best team for the game, and not to have favourites as such.

"You try to put the best team on paper, but when players play like they did today they give you a great problem.

"It's having a top player playing with quality and playing with dedication."
