What Swansea City have said amid fresh £18m Sheffield United interest in Oli McBurnie

Swansea City have maintained they have received no follow-up bids for star striker Oli McBurnie.

Fresh reports emerged in the national media overnight that the Blades were readying another offer for the Scotland international after their initial £15million bid was knocked back earlier this month.

The Sun state that Chris Wilder's team were preparing an £18million offer for McBurnie and that talks are progressing.

That may well be the case, but Swansea have insisted that no fresh contact has been made.

Steve Cooper and chairman Trevor Birch would be loathe to lose their talisman after his goalscoring heroics of last season.

But both individuals know that every player has his price - it is understood that a bid closer to £20million could see their stance soften.

McBurnie's goals wouldn't be the only loss; his all-round game is pivotal to Swansea's set-up, and with less than two weeks to go before the transfer window deadline, losing the 23-year-old would be a hammerblow to their chances this season.

Cooper said after last weekend's game in regards to McBurnie's future: "Nothing's changed.

"He's a very good character, a very good player and he's a good person to be around on a daily basis. I'm really enjoying working with him. Everybody at the football club would say that.

"But there's no news.

"As far as I know there's not been any fresh approach."

That remains the case at present, and Swansea will hope that stays the same.
