What Sunderland fans can expect from new boy Callum McFadzean

Sunderland new boy Callum McFadzean can't wait to get started in a red-and-white shirt as he looks to complete a hat-trick of promotions.

The Black Cats wing-back signed on a free on Wednesday, offering competition for Denver Hume down the left-hand side.

Scotland Under-21 international McFadzean won promotion with Plymouth Argyle and Bury in the last two seasons, and is determined to make it three in a row with Sunderland this term.

And he told Black Cats fans exactly what they can expect from him.

“I will give it everything and I like to chip in with goals and assists," he said. "They will see me up and down that flank.

“I have been doing everything possible to keep ticking over to make sure I was ready to go.

“I am raring to go now and I can’t wait."

Sunderland manager Phil Parkinson has been looking for some extra competition in the left wing-back role, despite Hume making the position his own in recent months.

And McFadzean was delighted to sign on the dotted line.

“I am delighted to be here, As soon as I knew Sunderland were interested I was desperate to get it done," he told the club's website.

“I knew there was interest in the summer, I had quite a bit of interest in the last week and as soon as we were doing the medical it happened really quickly.

“The last few seasons I have had two promotions. I am a team player, bringing experience in and winning games, that mentality is what I will bring.

“I said to myself, it would be a great achievement for myself and the boys, this is a massive club and deserves to be up there. That is what I want to achieve.

“I am ready to go. I have some topping up to do but will do everything possible to be out there as quickly as possible.”

Meanwhile, Sunderland's game against promotion rivals Ipswich Town at the Stadium of Light on Tuesday, November 3, will now kick off at the earlier time of 7pm.
