What Steven Gerrard did in Rangers dressing room as Liverpool legend launches title party

Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard will become a title winner with Rangers today should Celtic fail to beat Dundee United - and the celebrations have already begun.

Even if Celtic win today in their 12pm kick-off, Rangers need just one point from their final six league games to confirm the title victory.

After Rangers beat St Mirren 3-0 on Saturday, videos began to emerge from the player's dressing room, with manager Gerrard front and centre of the celebrations.

Rangers director of football Ross Wilson could be seen clearing the way by sweeping an empty bottle of beer away with his foot, before Gerrard took a run-up and dived forward along the club crest on the floor.

Gerrard said after the game that he was finding it hard to keep his emotions in check as his side finally reach their goal of a 55th league title.

That was the aim when he took charge of the Scottish Premiership club three seasons ago.

Gerrard explained: “It's tough because we're so close. And it's been a long journey over the three years.

"There have been some highs and lows in there. But I've just walked into a happy dressing-room, because we're so close now.

"When I turned up at the stadium today, it was emotional. You could see on the fans’ faces what it meant.

"How are my emotions right now? Bubbling. I'm obviously really happy and proud. I can relate to these emotions that I've had as a player.

"At the same time I want to stay controlled because it's not confirmed as of yet. But I think everyone knows it's 99.99 per cent done."
