Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce has spoken about his interest in Tottenham left-back Danny Rose as the transfer links with the defender continue.
Rose is contracted to Spurs until the summer of 2021 but has fallen out of favour and has been looking out for opportunities elsewhere since the summer.
There have been suggestions that Rose does not want to budge on his current contract as the 29-year-old seeks one last payday during his career.
Bruce has been asked about Rose and the Newcastle manager has admitted that the Magpies are working to try and get a deal over the line before the end of the January transfer window.
"It would be wrong for me to sit and talk about other people's players," Bruce told the Chronicle.
"He’s a quality player and a class act the kid. Whether it’s possible, who knows?"
Newcastle are known to want a left-back this month, with Jetro Willems and Paul Dummett sidelined due to injuries.
Meanwhile, Jan Vertonghen has been playing left-back of late at Spurs and Ben Davies is expected back soon.
Ryan Sessegnon featured in the position during the win over Norwich City.
