What should Seattle do with restricted free agent Quinton Jefferson?

The Seattle Seahawks have four restricted free agents that they’ll need to make decisions on this offseason.

The most prominent one is versatile offensive lineman George Fant, who could command a second round tender – which would cost Seattle around $3.1M.

Next up is five-tech Quinton Jefferson. Jefferson had the best season of his career last year, starting 12 games and recording 25 combined tackles and three sacks while posting an average 59.9 grade from Pro Football Focus.

A former fifth round pick, Seattle could offer Jefferson an original round tender with confidence. It is unlikely that any team will be willing to give up a fifth round pick to sign Jefferson – even after his career season. And even if they did, Seattle could use that pick to find a similar player.

That’s not to say Jefferson doesn’t have value, or that Seattle doesn’t want his versatility back in the fold next year, just that the original round tender is absolutely worth offering for Jefferson.

Seattle still needs more help in the pass rush next season, but continued growth from Jefferson would do wonders for this defensive unit in 2019.
