What Sheffield United's win means for Leeds United and their promotion hopes

Leeds United are now back under pressure in the race for promotion from the Championship to the Premier League.

Sheffield United went first on Good Friday as they faced Nottingham Forest in the early kick-off and the South Yorkshire side cruised to a 2-0 victory in the end.

Mark Duffy bagged the first goal in the second half of the match after Yohan Benalouane was sent off for Nottingham Forest.

Enda Stevens then made certain of the victory thanks to a late left-footed strike which assured that Sheffield United would land all three points.

This now means the Blades have jumped above Leeds and into second place in the Championship on goal difference (+32 to Leeds' +27).

But Leeds do have the advantage of still having four matches left compared to three for Sheffield United, with the Whites facing Wigan Athletic at Elland Road this afternoon. It also means that nothing will be settled for the two sides over the Bank Holiday weekend.

Whilst it may have been frustrating to see Sheffield United again put the pressure on, Leeds fans and players alike can be safe in the knowledge that another victory this afternoon for Marcelo Bielsa will put the Whites right back in the driving seat.
