Tottenham Hotspur face competition from Bayern Munich and Barcelona to secure the signature of highly-rated Ajax right-back Sergino Dest in the next transfer window.
Dest, who is only 19-years-old, is widely regarded as one of the best, upcoming full-backs in European football after racking up a total of 35 appearances in all competitions for the Dutch giants this season.
His performances have caught the eye of some of Europe's biggest clubs, including Spurs, Bayern Munich and Barcelona, with Dest's agent - Joes Blakborn - confirming that both Bayern and Barcelona have expressed an interest in signing the USA international, though, at the same time, confirmed that no formal offers have yet been made for the youngster.
"It [interest from Barcelona] is not yet concrete," Blakborn told Voetbal international.
"They have not officially reported to me or Ajax. However, information has been provided in the past. Sergino is one of the full-backs in Europe that they are following. He is an option should Nelson Semedo leave. But I think Sergino is an option for more clubs.
"Bayern Munich still want to take Sergino from Ajax, but at the moment both parties are still far apart. We can't do anything about that at the moment.”
Ajax, of course, have a track record for producing promising, young talents in recent seasons, with Frenkie de Jong having risen through the ranks at the Johan Cruyff Arena before joining Barcelona last summer whilst midfield starlet Donny van de Beek remains on the club's books.
Dest, who qualifies to play for the USA through his father, despite being born in the Netherlands, is contracted to the Eredevisie giants until the summer of 2022, meaning Ajax would probably demand a hefty-sized transfer fee to contemplate the idea of selling him.
The right-back berth is a key area that Spurs are in need of bolstering once the next transfer window arrives, with PSG defender Thomas Meunier amongst the candidates that have been most closely linked with a move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
