What Sean Dyche has said about Dwight McNeil's Burnley future amid Arsenal interest

Sean Dyche has admitted that he's unsure how much Burnley midfielder Dwight McNeil is worth in today's transfer market.

The 19-year-old is attracting interest from Arsenal, Manchester City, Liverpool, Everton and Newcastle following a breakthrough season in the Premier League, but Dyche told the  Burnley Express  he has no idea what the club would ask for if they were to sell him.

"It's a strange one, regarding his worth; I look at some of the figures bandied about for some of these young players and I don't know what you put on him.

"His worth to the team I'm more interested in, and that's the way he's delivering performances."

The pressure is finally on Hector Bellerin and that is exactly what Arsenal have always needed

Dyche also said what he likes about McNeil as a player, commenting on his "toughness" and bravery in possession and willingness to try and affect a game.

"I like his assuredness; he's quiet, he's calm, but there's a toughness in there, particularly to have the ball.

"That's something that can come and go with players, but he's certainly got that desire to grip a game with the ball: 'Give me the ball, I want to do something.'

"That's a powerful thing, particularly in a young player, because sometimes that's hard, but he will have the ball under any circumstances. He wants the ball, to try and produce something."

The transfer market can always lead to problems for managers as they look to hold onto their talented players. And it can also be a difficult time for the ones the rumours circulate over.

However, Dyche is happy that the former Manchester United youth team player has the necessary mental strength to cope with the increased interest and speculation.

"He's been here long enough to see that happen to other players, hopefully he'll take it as one of those things," Dyche stated.

"He's certainly in a balanced environment here, where I can't see him running away with any outside noise, he seems to be quite steady and enjoying his football.

"That's what I want him to do, play with a smile on his face and enjoy the challenge."
